Recruitment is a Commodity. Make it an Experience!

Gerry Crispin, Principal with CareerXroads, is a recruiting icon. He’s on a very short list, at least in my mind, of people who have meaningful insights and practical recommendations for improving the “Recruitment Experience” – insights and recommendations for both the employer and the job seeker. I had the privilege of spending some time with Gerry at the recent SHRM 2010 Annual Conference and Expo in San Diego. It resulted in the following video interview for the Monster and SmartBrief SHRM10 Video Series. Gerry spends 11 quality minutes talking about:

  • What companies are doing (or not doing) to create a mediocre-at-best experience for their candidates.
  • What jobseekers can do to participate in improving the experience for themselves.
  • What recruiting teams can do on their own – without a lot of time or money – to improve the experience for their prospective employees.
