Despite all of the advancements in technology, data mining, search strategies, and every other new shiny object that falls under the headings of Recruiting 2.0, 3.0, 4.0, x.0, most of corporate America pretty much sucks at putting the right butts in the right seats. Sorry, but it’s true…and it’s sad. In fact, I submit that our inability to find the right talent – even though it is undoubtedly out there – is one of the key contributors to our national unemployment rate hovering just around 8%. It’s embarrassing.
According to a recent survey by SmartRecruiters, a recruitment platform for the social enterprise, finding the right candidate is so difficult that more than half (52%) of employers looking to fill a job simply give up. That’s right, they just give up! People need jobs, and generally we have them. This is a (big) fundamental disconnect. Can we please try to get this straight, people?!?!
