Practically Radical…And Fully Free

I believe the best leadership lessons in life come from surrounding yourself with those who lead. And those who lead as if it were ingrained in their every fiber. For some it’s in their DNA – they were just born that way. Others it’s learned – yes, unequivocally, leadership can be learned. I’m a visual and auditory learner. Reading comprehension has never been my strong-suit. I read for pleasure, usually at night and usually with a glass of cold milk and a plate of cookies. I rarely read to learn….boooorrrrinng.

When I get the chance to listen to or see really smart people talking about really interesting – and relevant – stuff, I jump at it. I’ve recently been turned on to an organization - G5 Leadership – that does a really good job at making that chance more and more available to the masses. They work with some of the best in the industry – Bob Sutton (No Asshole Rule), David Marcum (Egonomics) – to provide live learning opportunities over the web. One of my favorites - Bill Taylor, Founder of Fast Company – has a new book out.   Practically Radical promises to get us thinking (and acting) in a way that speaks to me almost as a mantra: “[redefining] the terms of competition by embracing one-of-a-kind ideas in a world filled with me-too thinking.” For HR, this is it. This is our future. This is the ‘do or die.’ It’s about relevance…about impact. It’s about sustainability and indispensability. Taylor’s book will very likely be one of the few I actually “read to learn.” But even better…

Bill Taylor is presenting the core findings, theories, and teachings in a live web-conference format on March 9, 2011 (11:00 a.m. ET). G5Leadership asked me whether I’d be interested in inviting some of you to attend and I of course said, “hell yes.” I told them I’d do so only if they offered up some free seats. They said, “hell yes.” So I’m pleased to make 50 seats available for the low low price of free!* All you have to do is go to the Eventbrite Registration Page and enter this discount code: hrfishbowl1

I hope you take advantage of the opportunity and I hope it makes a difference in what you do for your people.

*I am NOT being compensated for making this offer available to you. I’m merely a supporter lending a hand.
